MR. BAR GUY

By NEIL CALDWELL

Mr. Bar Guy?I suppose you are wondering who Mr. Bar Guy is. I know you have seen him, he's everywhere, always out there with the beautiful people. Still, don't think you know him? (Knowing him is very chic). You're wondering where you have seen him? I'm telling you, he's everywhere. You want a description? He's very diverse, a combination of many things. His looks are a blend of Mom's apple pie, Madison Avenue and just the right touch of lumberjack.

You still think you don't know him? I assure you he's had a great influence in your life. Let me describe him further. Mr. Bar Guy is tall, but not too tall, but tall enough so that he never appears short and short enough that he never appears tall. He's built big, but not too big, just big enough so that you know he's not small. His coloring ranges from a nordic blond to an Italian bronze, depending on the setting. Mr. Bar Guy always blends with the environment to form a unique atmosphere. His hair is wavy and full. It never frizzes and always stays in place, except when it gets wind-blown

GAY SKATE

The United States of America North was the scene for the second annual Gay Skate sponsored by GAA of Columbus. Over 60 people on wheels skated for 2 1/2 hours for this fund-raising event, held November 21, 1977. Tickets were available beforehand at the bars and also at the door. The disco music was punctuated throughout with announcements, for the various Columbus Gay organizations.

COMMUNITIES

RENEGE

Two communities have decided to exclude gay protection from Human Rights legislation, after having included gays in the original drafts, the "Advocate" reports. In Renton, Washington, the Human Rights and Affairs Commission voted 4-2 to delete gay protection from the ordinance. If gay rights were included, the entire ordinance "wouldn't pass the council in this, a political year," said one town official.

In Palm Beach County (Florida), the Human Resources Committee is rewriting its employment rights ordinance to exclude gay protection. Gay people had been covered under the original draft's very general wording. Committee sources told the "Miami Herald" that the ordinance was being rewritten because committee members are "unwilling to become embroiled in a Dade (County) -like gay rights controversy."

and must be shaken into place. Lately, Mr. Bar Guy has been wearing a beard or mustache. Whichever, it will always be neatly trimmed. Mr. Bar Guy wears clothes very well. He has a vast wardrobe suitable for every occasion. Recently he has been wearing a lot of denim. (He's been out west on some business with the Marlboro Tobacco Company.) Whatever he wears, he is always the most appropriately dressed. I think Mr. Bar Guy's best qualities are his warm, winning smile and his perfect teeth, along with his understanding and knowing voice. Of course, Mr. Bar Guy does not talk all that often. Sometimes he just smiles. He's the kind of person who doesn't stick out in a crowd but everyone knows he is there. You still think you haven't seen him, but you want an introduction? I want to assure you, again, you know him. Let me tell you a little more about him and I'm sure you will remember.

No one knows hold old Mr.Bar Guy is. It used to be, he looked very young, but lately he's looking a bit older. Mr. Bay Guy loves sports and is an expert at

GAY MURDERER

Robert Kerns, a 32 year-old popular San Francisco waiter, was found stabbed in the chest and forehead just feet from the blood-spattered ball gown he had borrowed to wear to a Polk Street Halloween parade, largely a gay event. An eight inch kitchen knife was found next to Kerns' body in the foyer of his

everything from raquet ball to

skiing. His interests include many things, from the arts to dirt biking. Mr. Bar Guy is a great dancer and loves to party. He only goes to the right parties and never arrives too early or too late. Mr. Bar Guy does have a few bad habits, but they don't seem to hurt him. For example, he smokes constantly, all different kinds of cigarettes and cigars, but he never gets a cough. (he's been smoking for years.) Mr. Bar Guy drinks a lot but never gets drunk, whether he is drinking scotch or Budweiser. No one is sure what Mr. Bar Guy does for a living. I think it's some kind of public relations work. Mr. Bar Guy always has plenty of money. With his taste and money, you can be sure he has a nice home and a fast car to complement his life style. You must recall him! I can't understand you not knowing him, he's gone to great lengths to get your attention. Adds on TV and radio. He has even billboards

put and signs everywhere. I'm sure you know him, but you just don't know from where.

well furnished apartment and a smaller knife was found bent on the dresser of a bedroom.

Kerns had left work on October 30 at 11 p.m. and went to a Polk Street bar. People there reported him leaving at midnight but they didn't know if he left alone. At 4 a.m. tenants heard a man yell for help in his apartment building. Police said Kern bled to death as he tried to make his way to the door to summon help.reve
